William James McBride

Mc Bride was born in Toombride, country Antrim. He was a rugby footballer. He led an Ireland team for 11 times as captain. The first time he won was against South Africa (the springboks).Than after that he went to the tour and beat three team in their own team they where a Australia ,New Zealand and South Africa. He player against many teams but there was one famous player he played with his name was Gordon Brown. After long time of his competitive career finally he decided to end it on 15 of March 1975. Later on he joined a Irish team as a coach and was a manager of the 1983 British an Irish Lions tour to New Zealand. Finally he settled down in Ballyclare. In 2004 the give him award for his long career “Heineken Rugby Personality of the Century”.
